Most basketball stars would cherish the opportunity to become “The Logo”. This dream came true for Jerry West. The NBA silhouette has been modeled after the Los Angeles Laker’s guard since the 1971-72 season.
However, West has recently gone one record saying that he want the NBA to find a new logo and even wishes the public never knew that he was the silhouette. This might have to do with the fact that West isn’t even being paid royalties anymore, confirmed in this interview with Graham Bensigner.
I can understand why he isn’t thrilled about not being paid, but the logo is iconic. Some suggestions for a new logo have been thrown out, but would the logo be the same?
What if we gave the people what they wanted and Michael Jordan became the new NBA silhouette? Sportslogos.net shows us an example of what the new logo could look like.
It looks like it might be time to part the iconic logo. What are your thoughts? Do you think the NBA will find a new silhouette?
